Improve the resilience of the oasian agrosystem in the M’Zab Valley by safeguarding and economically valorizing local agro-biodiversity.
The project takes place in the Wilaya (province) of Ghardaia, located in the M’Zab valley in Algeria. The valley faces various pressures: economic, through the establishment of agricultural policies without a long-term vision; social, due to the lack of economic opportunities offered to women and youth; and environmental, by directly experiencing the impacts of climate change. One of the local challenges is to regain agricultural sovereignty with a concern for food quality and environmental considerations, by utilizing adapted and improved local varieties and know-hows for preservation and multiplication.
