Our flagship event
Désertif'actions
Désertif’Actions is an international multi-stakeholder summit initiated and organised by CARI since 2006.
An international multi-stakeholder summit
Focusing on the issue of land, Désertif’actions aims to foster and sustain a process of breaking down barriers between the various groups of stakeholders involved in implementing the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. Through consultation and knowledge-sharing, the aim is to clarify the current challenges, develop positions and bring the message to the forefront of ongoing international negotiations.
This initiative usually centres on a summit co-organised with the Convention and another partner ahead of the Conference of the Parties. It features several key events, such as plenary sessions and thematic workshops, a specific session open to the general public including a concert, and an international cartoon competition designed to illustrate the various concerns relating to the earth. A more comprehensive programme may also be in place, with initial activities in the countries, online working sessions, post-COP meetings to share results, etc.
