Accompanying program for sustainable land management and agroecological transition in the Arusha region in Tanzania (2025-2028)

Overall objective

The KEA programme aims to improve the resilience of communities in the Arusha region. To this end, it supports the development of a sustainable food system based on sustainable land management, the transition to agroecology and land governance.

Specific intervention area

The Kilimo Endelevu Arusha project works with farmers in 20 villages in the Arusha Rural District. Initiatives to engage local authorities and raise public awareness are also being carried out in the city of Arusha. Finally, the project undertakes advocacy work at national level in Tanzania and across East Africa.

Project objectives
  • Family farms in the Arusha region are improving their food and nutritional security, as well as their economic stability, through sustainable land management and the transition to agroecology.
  • The political and institutional conditions at local, national and international levels are conducive to the roll-out of sustainable food systems.
