Coordination Sud’s position paper on the French government’s budget cuts to public development aid

Despite a commitment by the President of the French Republic to increase official development assistance, on February 18, 2024, Minister of the Economy and Finance Bruno Lemaire announced a 742 million euro cut in the budget allocated to official development assistance. However, this decision is no exception, as budgets have been cut in many other areas of public spending.   

Faced with this announcement by the French government, Coordination SUD decided to react by writing a letter signed by over a hundred French organizations working in the field of international solidarity.
