To encourage agro-ecological transition in North Africa to increase the overall sustainability of agriculture and local resilience of territories.
The project will focus on the agro-ecological transition in 6 living labs and 7 replication labs representative of the diversity of agricultural systems in North Africa (mountain systems, oasis and peri-oasis systems, peri-urban systems, cereal plains and irrigated valleys) located in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania, and Egypt.
• Assess the multidimensional benefits of agro-ecological practices for different agricultural systems in North Africa; identify levers and constraints for the dissemination of agro-ecological practices, as well as conditions, means, and tools to support the agro-ecological transition.
• Strengthen market access strategies for small producers and to increase consumer demand for food products from agroecology, on national, regional, and international markets.
• Set up a Mediterranean multi-stakeholder network on agroecology promoting knowledge exchange among different communities and the development of advocacy.
• Strengthen key actors in charge of policy-making and higher education to promote the agro-ecological transition.
