The overall objective of the GTD is to mobilize public opinion and strengthen the concertation and action of development and international solidarity players based in France, for more effective implementation of actions to combat desertification and sustainable land management, in line with the framework of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
CARI’s Desertification Working Group has been active in France since 2001. This platform, which brings together civil society organizations, local authorities, private structures and scientists, monitors France’s commitments in the fight against desertification.
More than 30 civil society organizations participated in COP15 of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
