CARI will be present at the 16th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 16), which will take place from 2 to 13 December 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The GTD, RADDO and ReSaD partners will also be present.
Together, CARI and its partners will bring the voice of civil society to international negotiations on sustainable land management in drylands.
Participation in COP16 has 3 objectives:
- Advancing the consideration of agro-ecology within the Convention
- To highlight local authorities in the North and South as key players in sustainable land management in their areas. And to encourage their involvement in discussions at international meetings.
- To launch the 6th edition of Desertif’actions, which will take place in 2026, on the resilience of populations and agro-ecosystems to drought.
